The Going Beyond Project: Empowering Young Entrepreneurs Through Digital and Entrepreneurial Skills

Across Malawi, many young entrepreneurs face significant barriers to economic participation due to limited access to digital skills, entrepreneurial knowledge, and practical opportunities for innovation. In an increasingly digital economy, this skills gap restricts young people’s ability to start, grow, and sustain enterprises, leaving many with unrealized potential and limited livelihood options. Addressing these challenges is critical to improving youth employability and socio-economic resilience.

The Going Beyond project is an initiative designed to equip young people with 21st-century digital and entrepreneurial soft skills that are essential for navigating today’s digital marketplace. Between June and November 2025, we set out to reach 1,500 youths, strengthening their capacity to innovate, adapt, and pursue sustainable economic opportunities.

The success of the project is largely attributed to the dedication and leadership of Life Concern’s Youth Leaders, whose commitment and community engagement enabled the initiative to exceed its targets. Through their efforts, the project reached 1,620 young people, empowering them with practical digital skills, entrepreneurial mindsets, and confidence to explore new pathways for growth. This achievement reflects the Youth Leaders’ passion, resilience, and the meaningful impact they continue to create within their communities.

The Going Beyond project is implemented by Life Concern in collaboration with Digital Opportunity Trust and the Mastercard Foundation, whose partnership has been instrumental in expanding opportunities for young people.
